Exercise Apps Worth Your Time

Today is the perfect day for yoga.  It is raining gently and there is a slight chill outside insisting that California has reached autumn even if it would prefer otherwise.  The day is begging me to spend time focusing my mind and body with a few thoughtful poses.  While I am certainly not a yoga expert by any means, I love to practice.  There is something so amazing about the connection you feel to yourself and your surroundings when practicing yoga.

Lately, I have been turning to the Asana Rebel app for yoga programs.  There are free options, but paying for the full program is worth your time if you really enjoy yoga as an exercise program.  The paid subscription contains several programs for different goals including fatburn, detox, balance, core strength, relaxation, bikini body, strong back, flexible body, full body, and inner peace.  All programs are a minimum of 4 weeks long providing you with several options for your practice.  There is also a freestyle section with shorter segments for different purposes.  All poses are thoroughly explained and demonstrated making it easy for yoga newbies.  Normally, I wouldn’t pay for an app, but I really enjoy the programs and feel like they are worth my money.  I have used other free yoga apps and haven’t been as happy with the programs they offer.

For cardio, I turn to the Running for Weight Loss app by Redrock Apps.  I am currently using the free option which is an 8-week program.  You can pay for a premium subscription to unlock more running programs if you’re all about interval running.  I love being able to get into the rhythm of running while listening to one of my audio books on Audible.  Right now, I am re-reading one of my books that is perfect for the fall season – “A Discovery of Witches” by Deborah Harkness.  While I love to curl up on a chair with a physical book in my hands, I enjoy being able to exercise and still be enthralled in a good story through Audible.  And Jennifer Ikeda is a FANTASTIC reader.  She’s a perfect fit for Harkness’s compelling novel.  It really takes my mind off the fact that I’m exercising…and sweating…a lot.
